Safety.com recommends 14 safety tips when ridesharing with Uber. Here they are:

  1. Wait for your ride in a safe place.

  2. Always ask “What’s my name?”

  3. Verify the car and driver.

  4. Don’t ride alone.

  5. Use trip-sharing features.

  6. Consider more personal safety technology (i.e., the iWitness or Tego apps or the Nimb Ring).

  7. Let the driver know that the trip is being tracked.

  8. Choose where to sit wisely.

  9. Make sure your driver follows the rules of the road.

  10. You need to follow the rules too.

  11. Do not share personal information.

  12. Trust your gut.

  13. Be aware of traffic when entering and exiting the vehicle.

  14. Give feedback about your trip and driver.
